AT 98, THERE ISN'T A LOT I CAN DO, BUT I CAN VOTE

ROSE and her “baby” sister, TAMARA (age 93) migrated to Florida from Philadelphia in the 1970s along with thousands of other northeasterners. These folks, many of them Jewish Democrats, transformed south Florida into “The New York of the South.”

Together, they put Wynmoor on the political map. They helped Debbie Wasserman Schultz rise to political power and they hosted Vice President Joe Biden when he campaigned for President Obama in 2012.

But now, Rose and Tamara are watching all of their friends die or leave Florida to spend their final years with children or in assisted living. And they wonder, will the next generation carry our torch?
